Many of you have asked where you can send contributions and if it’s appropriate to send flowers. Steve’s family asks that you please refrain from sending flowers. Instead, they have established a foundation to memorialize Steve.
The Steven Nathaniel Wolkoff Foundation will honor Steve’s memory by funding programs that support recreation, education, and environmental causes. Below is a note from Steve’s mom with more details:

In Honor of Steve Wolkoff, The Steven Nathaniel Wolkoff Foundation
A foundation has been formed in honor of Steve Wolkoff. The foundation is an opportunity to honor Steven’s name and keep his voice alive. The mission will be to support work addressing the issues that were important to him: recreational (local ultimate teams, parks and common green areas), educational (he would have loved to create an educational center/think tank), and addressing environmental problems and solutions.
The current address is:
c/o Sandy Wolkoff, 29 The Circle, The Knolls, Glen Head NY 11545.
The new ID-EIN number for the Steven Nathaniel Wolkoff Foundation is 26-2864582.
We wanted something for Cindy and our family to do for the future, and in the future, as we all try to recover, and we are confident that this can be a way to make sure that Steven continues to make a difference in the world.
With gratitude,
The family and friends of Steven Wolkoff

The Steven Nathaniel Wolkoff Foundation is now officially incorporated as a non-profit entity in New York State. We have a letter and corporate seal and we are in business, literally.
I should be able to open a checking out on Monday. The Foundation may need to become a 501 (c) 3, a much longer process but not insurmountable, in order for people to get tax deductions for their contributions but I need to get back to my friendly accountant to confirm that.
In the mean time, we have $9,124 in donations! The costs of setting up the Foundation were donated by the Wolkoff family and will not dip into the donations.
And we can’t wait to wear our Team Wolkoff t-shirts.
With gratitude,
Sandy Wolkoff

I wanted to send my sincerest sympathies on your loss.
I was the driver of one of the other cars in the accident. We were the lucky ones. Although our car was hit first, my wife, daughter and I escaped with only a few bumps. It was an horrific experience.
I want you to know that everyone at the site did all they could under the circumstances.
I can only imagine the pain and suffering for you Cindy and the families. It has taken me 3 weeks just to get over the accident enough to send this note. I have read many of the blogs about Steve and can understand how wonderful a person he was.
I hope in time some of the pain disappears and you will remember all the great things that Steve contributed to the world. Best of luck.

Dear Sandy, our moms had lost touch and I had no idea until reading Sunday’s Newsday that Steven had been killed by a drunk driver. There are no words to express how sorry we all are, and how stunned we were to read the story in the paper. You were very brave to have written that article. I remember when he was born, it seems like only yesterday, and how proud your parents were. I know your dad passed away, as did mine five short years ago. We live in Roslyn and I would enjoy seeing you again. Please contact me on my email at franrossb@aol.com. I work from home so I can be here to take care of my even more precious kids, 14 and 10. Again, we were all so sorry but hope his memories help you get through each day. All our love, Francine and family
